As it is a Kubera Sthanam those who pray here with trust in god are blessed with great wealth and success in life. It is one among the 108 Divyadesam shrines glorified by the Tamil Azhwar saints (6th–9th centuries CE).

Here almost all shines are made of granite and the temple is in an enclosure. The sanctum has an imposing stone idol of god Vishnu with a lotus stalk rising from hid navel on which is seated god Brahma, the creator. Among the festivals here the most spectacular one is the Garuda Sevai utsavam that comes in the month of Vaisakhi (May–June). The procession will include nine Garuda sevai palanquins, each representing the Nava Tirupathi shrines in this area . The festival idols of god Vishnu from all the nine shrines will be riding Garuda Vahana, the mount of God Vishnu.
Yet another interesting event as part of Garuda Sevai is the festival idol of Nammazhwar is also brought out here on Anna Vahana (palanquin) from all the 9 temples in this area.
Accompanied by the recitation of his pasurams (verses) dedicated to each of these Nava Tirupati shrines, the idol of Nammazhwar is taken in a procession is taken to the Nava Tirupati shrine through the paddy fields. This event is being witnessed by thousand of devotees.
The Garuda sevai festival in Nava Tirupathi, the nine Vishnu temples in Thoothukudi region and the Araiyar Sevai during the Vaikunta Ekadashi festival in Srirangam temple are dedicated to him. The verses of Nammalwar and other alwars are recited as a part of daily prayers and during festive occasions in most Vishnu temples in South India.
