Netaji's first statue in Delhi at India gate. - where king George V' s statue once stood!!


I am gland that last Sunday this month PM Modiji  declared open the hologram of patriot Netaji  Subash Chandra Bose's  statue at India gate under the tall Canopy. 

The proposed statue will be be made of granite showing Netaji in full regalia. It is Delhi's first statue  at an important place

The India Gate canopy that has remained unoccupied since 1968  will now house a grand granite statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The installation will mark   the national hero' 125th birth anniversary. on 23 January 2022. Netaji formed his own army called INA (Indian National Army) to fight the wily British. .................

 ''At a time when the entire nation is marking the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, I am glad to share that his grand statue, made of granite, will be installed at India Gate. This would be a symbol of India’s indebtedness to him,” PM Modiji tweeted.

He further said, “Till the grand statue of Netaji Bose is completed, a hologram statue of his would be present at the same place. I will unveil the hologram statue on 23rd January, Netaji’s birth anniversary.”

A request had been made to have the freedom fighter’s image on currency notes. There is a proposal start the republic day celebration on 23rd January itself to include Netaji's  birthday

Above image:  According to Kanchan Gupta, senior adviser, Ministry of Information and Broadcast, the statue of King George was removed in 1968 and installed at Coronation Park in Central Delhi. The statue was intended to be replaced by that of a national hero.

In 1968 the statue of King George V was removed from the canopy at India Gate and installed at Coronation Park. Since then the canopy has remained empty. It was to be replaced by the statue of a national hero.
