Mahatma Gandhiji is remembered only on his birth day (Gandhi Jayanthi -2nd of October) every year across India by political leaders; an annual ritual going on for the past several decades. The garlanded Gandhi's statues across the country, after that event, will remain deserted and filled with layers of dust, no cleaning of the statue is done. No political heavy weight will ever take a look at his statues that lose the shine in the hot weather. With some exceptions, most of them have a scant respect for his simplicity and political morality for which he stood firmly and sacrificed his life till his death. The oldest party in India Congress and many of its corrupt leaders do not even sleep with their head facing Gandhiji's direction. His ideals are things of the past with the passage of time and irreverence on the part of the Congress leaders. Gandhiji wanted the Congress part dissolved soon after independence in August. 1947. This grand old party's dedicated leaders having been gone, in the last one decade or more, it became a highly corrupt political party with poor leadership. When some leaders go abroad, they are known for their anti-India rhetoric. When in power last, it accounted for the maximum number of scams, the biggest one being 2 G Scam that shook the entire ministry to the bottom. The accused are out and have not yet been punished. The Congress party long ago divided the electorate on communal line in many places to corner minority votes and had an electoral alliance with political parties that openly preach atheism, criticize Hindu deities Hindu culture. They neither have political morality and nationalistic view nor did they have give clean corruption free administration in the past. Many of the leaders are subject to reticule and debate for their frequent off the cuff remarks.

07. Lack of severe punishment and deterrents for erring politicians who swallow public money and use it for their family comforts is in favor of untrustworthy netas. Regarding judicial inquiry or court cases or police inquiry, they check into a hospital and use poor health as an excuse. They play a kind of possum.

09. Prevalence of linguistic chauvinism and communal politics in many states. in particular in the southern states need to be in check.
11. State government should take a firm stand against certain rationalistic parties who make blasphemous and lewd remarks on Hindus gods /goddesses and rituals, etc. Such parties are known to be anti-national, and anti-Hindu, frequently making derogatory comments in public against the PM. Such provocative comments need to be taken seriously by the police. The political leaders holding high position should be respected.
12. Yet another sad state of political degeneration is openly using places of worship as a political platform to canvas vote against parties and support for certain regional parties. Such meetings are headed by the minority religious leaders who are supposed to use their discretion in such a matter. Gandhiji will be in tears because, to him a place worship is not for politics or for an election platform.

15. The unfortunate fact is most of the distilleries/breweries are owned by politicians and their relatives from one particular party in TN. They also control potable water sources in Chengalpattu, Vellore and other places. To tap groundwater and operate water tankers, they have had no licence and it has been going on for several years. Common people can not question them. Some parties including Communists illegally take sand from river beds and sell it at huge price in the neighboring state. People in Erode district say.
17. Lately, in the past three years or so, after the demise of CM Jayalalitha, Brahmin-baiting by a small section of rationalist parties is carrying on, using obnoxious and filthy language against this small community, making them a scapegoat for the ills in the society. Both the Center and the State governments have not yet taken serious action on them for creating disunity and enmity in the society. None of the Indian states have this kind of problem, targeting a small community to mislead the public. The entire Hindu society is sore about these fringe groups who openly insult Hindu cultures, Hindu gods and the priestly people.

18. As for erection of statues, Gandhiji would not have liked memorials or statues for those who were anti-India, anti-national and anti-god. Such statues won't be of any inspiration to the young generation.
Presented below are some additional political cartoon images of Gandhiji taken from many sources. Many of them are thought-provoking:
