In the realm of weight control, physical education focusing on physical activities, motivation and diet plays a stellar role. An awareness has already been  in place on the benefits of physical skills and, here, much emphasis is placed on the cardio-vascular or cardio respiratory endurance. This will help one understand how well one's  body is receptive to long periods of exercise. The researchers at the university of Georgia say  such activities do not help the adults and children, in particular, to  reduce their body weight.  Over-weight Kids  based on BMI (Body Mass Index)   are advised to do sustained  to reach the recommended 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity each day.

"Research has shown that even in young children, people who are fitter in terms of cardiorespiratory endurance participate in more intense physical activities," said lead author Sami Yli-Piipari, an associate professor in UGA's Mary Frances Early College of Education.  According to Assoc. Prof. Sami Yli-Piipari,  "It's not really your weight that matters. Children can be a little bit overweight but still be relatively fit." The research shows the link between physical activities and cardio-vascular endurance. People and children with better cardio-vascular endurance can indulge in intense physical activities.

The results of the study at the University of Georgia's Mary Frances Early College of Education. were based on  the  study of  450 children of ages  from 10 through 12. The children  had to  spend 90 minutes of mandatory PE every week wearing   an accelerometer on their right hip during the day to track their total physical activity for a week. Included also are simple tests  monitoring of other physical workouts such as modified  push-ups  or crunch  with view to  determining  their mastery of physical skills. The researchers also explored the participants' interest and attitude in the exercise regimen - whether  they happily took part in PE or did it under obligation.

The lead Researcher, Sami Piiparii,  said , "Physical education matters; it's not only where students learn the skills, abilities and motivation to be active; it's where students are having to do something active at a higher intensity than they probably would after school."

The study was done in  Finland, where children  had more PE on  an average than their counterparts in the USA. Students also got to understand the incorporation of regular exercise regimen in their  everyday life.  The researches found out that boys  were more active than girls. Surprisingly, neither motivation nor muscle strength or  motor skills played  a role in activity levels.  In the case of students who never followed up the exercise or physical activities after school hours,  PE was the only time they  did exercise good  enough to work up a sweat. That meant they could spend the class time effectively  with better motivation .

The research team led by Piipari  offers the following suggestions to make the children  physically literate

01. Instead of lecturing the students to the point of fatiguing, take them out and get them moving and try on their own different things that would make them happy.

02. As ''variety'' is a key factor, the primary thing to be achieved is get the heart pumping  far above the normal level.

03. Students (also adults) learn multiple  skills  or ways to keep the heart active

04. The down stream effects of  regular physical activities are better physical, mental well being of the individual and, above all, promoting positive attitude.

05.Healthy diet and exercise offer you multiple benefits; you stay active, well-focused and better motivated.
