The Gandhi Hall was originally known as King Edward Hall, but H. H. Yeshwant Rao Holkar II (reign: 1926 - 1948) renamed it in 1948, after the death of Mahatma Gandhi. This town hall was designed & constructed by architect Mr. Charles Frederick Stevens from Mumbai at a cost of Rs. 2,50,000 and was inaugurated by Prince of Wales, George V in 1905. Made in the Indo-Gothic style, White stones from Seoni & Red stones from Patan in M.P were widely used for the construction of domes and minarets that enhance the look of the building. The added attraction is a huge clock-tower.

This town hall, known as Gandhi Hall, is a major venue for art and cultural activities, exhibitions, etc and the central hall can accommodate 2,000. In the interior pars the roof ceiling is high and it is ingeniously done to keep the inner portions cool and cozy. On three national festive days the special lighting in tri-color done by the State Government attracts lots of tourists and others to this venue. In 1948, when Gandhiji was assassinated in Delhi and in the same year this amazing building was renamed to honor him. The building has a children's park and a library.
