US President Donald Trump never minds getting mired in controversial statements  when meeting the media people and, on such occasions, he knows how to wiggle out of  the mess he is in  when he gets a snare from the victims. His  recent controversial labeling of the corona virus the 'Chinese Virus' in a tweet in which he promised to protect American industry from the economic crisis caused by the pathogen has assumed some political overtone. The president in a subtle manner appears to have blamed the new virus Covid-19's  origin  at Beijing's door.  The virus caused more than 6500 death world over  and the economy of many countries is in disarray.  Presently  Italy and Iran have unprecedented cases of virus infection and death.  In spite of its origin in Wuhan, China, the World Health Organization (WHO) does not attach geographic names to diseases or 'terms that incite undue fear'. Part of the reason is Chinese are known to eat all kinds of animals/critters (including exotic ones) and across the country there  operate ''wet animal markets'' where illegal trading of animals is common and it goes unchecked. Animal cruelty is part of the trade.

Accepting the fact that the pandemic may send the  US economy into a recession  mode, Trump  suggested that the nation may be dealing with the virus until 'July or August. “This morning a White House official referred to Coronavirus as the ‘Kung-Flu’ to my face,” the CBS News correspondent Weijia Jiang reported on Twitter. “Makes me wonder what they’re calling it behind my back,” added Jiang, who was born in China but raised in West Virginia.

The reason for Trump's jibe at China is Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian,  said that the virus might have been introduced to China by an American soldier during the Military World Games in Wuhan, China, in October. As for trump, in a vigilante style he had  defended repeatedly calling the pathogen “the Chinese virus,”- a sort of  justified response to the promotion of a conspiracy theory put forward by the Chinese foreign ministry.

When recently questioned about President Trump's language and the backlash from his implicit effort to blame China. Dr. Mike Ryan,  WHO's executive director for emergencies said, “We’ve been very clear right since the beginning of this event that viruses know no borders and they don’t care your ethnicity or the color of your skin or how much money you have in the bank''.........“This is a time for solidarity. This is a time for facts. This is a time to move forward together to fight this virus together.”

Recently Trump claimed that the world is “paying a bigger price” because China “hid the information”, further consolidating the allegation that Beijing is responsible for the outbreak.
