Ewing Christian College (ECC), a part of Allahabad university is roughly115 years old built during the Raj - when India was directly ruled by the British government in England. Formerly known as Allahabad Christian College, it is an autonomous college located in Allahabad, India.

This was founded  as a P.G. college in 1902 by  Arthur Henry Ewing, (1864–1912), a prominent Presbyterian missionary and academic  at the  initiative of the East India Company.  Fr. Ewing  graduated from Washington & Jefferson College,USA in 1887 and as part of his missionary duties, he came to India and served as a principal of a Boys' Boarding School. Later he served as Principal of Allahabad Christian College from 1901–1912. Under his administration, the college grew in stature and it became one of the premier colleges for excellence in higher education and research in India.
 

ECC , as it is commonly referred to, is a constituent college of Allahabad University and is conferred with with the status of College with Potential for Excellence by the University Grants Commission in 2005; first college to be selected as the Community college in 2014. As part of community-oriented program, the college offers certificate courses in food technology, etc. The college arranges for guest lectures by experts in varied fields of study so that the students will derive immense benefits from such lectures. It was also the first college to get accreditation  from NAAC in 2004 itself. The Department of Botany was started at the initiative of  Dr. Winfield Dudgeon (1912-32), a botanist of international repute and a well-known American missionary.

The huge sprawling quiet campus comprising 42 acres of land is  located on the northern bank of the Yamuna river near Sangam. Three major faculties function here and they are: 
the Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Teacher education, which are subdivided into various departments and eight self-financed centers /departments. The college opened its agricultural economics department later on the other side of the river, which soon became  Allahabad Agricultural Institute.
