 The  small historical town of Magalagiri  in Guntur distric, Andhra has  a famous temple in the foot hills dedicated to lord Vishnu, who is in the avatar of Narasimha. The other well-known temple being  Sri Panakala Lakshmi Narasimha swamy Temple on the near-by hill.

01. The  presiding  deity in the temple here at the foot hill is called Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy  and is believed to have been  installed by Yudhishtira, the eldest of the Pandavas.  

02. Raja Vasireddy Venkatadri Naidu, ruler of Amaravati (in 1807-1809)  built the temple at Mangalagiri 200 years ago. The first few tiers were built by Vijayanagara rulers.

03. The main gopuram - tower is called  Thoorpu Gali Gopuram with 11 stories and has a height of 153 feet and 49 feet wide.   

04. Initially the tower was not straight. A water tank was built opposite to the tower to offset the leaning tower. Later, the tower became straight.

05. The other gopuram - Padmavati is incomplete.

06. The main deity Narasimha  has 108 saligramams  and  a Dakshanavrutha Sankham  - conch.
